JCB In the absence of binding legal provisions there is no unified system of designation and placement of identification numbers and data plates!
Vw Motor Number Lookup
The spark-ignition petrol engines listed below operate on the four-stroke cycle, and unless stated otherwise, use a wet sump lubrication system, and are water-cooled. Since the Volkswagen Group is German, official internal combustion engine performance ratings are published using the International System of Units (commonly abbreviated 'SI'), a modern form of the metric system of figures. Engine Number: 3.1 Location of the engine number. Depending on the type of machine or engine installed, the engine identification number is punched into the engine block or embossed on a riveted metal plate. Due to accessory equipment, it is hardly accessible when installed, however.
Since nearly all manufacturers produce machines worldwide, this can, depending on the machines involved, lead to variations in these descriptions.
- The Vehicle Identification Numbers are the numbers that correctly identify your vintage Volkswagen. VIN numbers can help you to identify the original parts that came stock in your VW and ensure that you order the correct parts for your vehicle.
- Each chassis number is the last vehicle produced in that month. Beginning in August, 1955, the VW model years began in August of the previous year. Example: Aug., 1955=1956 model. Beginning in the 1965 model year (August 1964), the VIN/chassis number begins with the first 2-digits of the full model number.

JCB construction machines can be identified from the following numbers:
|
It is possible to work backwards from the numbers on sub-components, but this can only be done manually at the manufacturing plant itself. Before requesting such a search it is necessary to provide an exact description of the machine to make sure that the construction data is as accurate as possible.
The designation for the chassis number is not fixed due to a lack of binding provisions and a miscellany of production plants. Here, the following designations:
1. Serial number
2. VIN (Vehicle identification number)
3. PIN (Product information number)
are used and frequently used in varying lengths! (7 – 17 characters)
Starting on 2005 a 17-character VIN was introduced on some models of construction machine. The period when this occurred varies, depending on the manufacturing plant and machine concerned.
1.1 Vehicle serial numbers
1.1.1 Location of VIN in mini-excavator
The VIN is located on the front frame, on the left, in the direction of travel. Can only be seen after removal of the cover at the driver’s entrance!
1.1.1.1 Form and appearance of the VIN
1.1.2 Location of the VIN on wheeled excavators
1.1.2.1 Form and appearance of the VIN
1.1.3 Location of the VIN on crawler excavators
1.1.3.1 Form and appearance of the VIN
1.1.4 Location of the VIN on wheel loaders
1.1.4.1 Form and appearance of the VIN
1.1.5 Location of VIN in the telescopic handler

Caution !!
The serial number is often referred to as PIN and entered as such in the search files.
Therefore when making trace requests do one with the complete VIN and one with just the serial number!!!

2.1.6 Location of the type plate on backhoe loader
The type plate with the engraved serial number is fixed on with rivets and is located beneath the stamped serial number on the front frame, on the right (as seen in the direction of travel).
2.2 Form and appearance of the factory plate
Depending on the type of machine and the manufacturing plant, different plates are used.
Example:
2.2.1 Mini excavators
2.2.2 Wheel excavators
2.2.3 Tracked excavators
2.2.4 Wheeled loaders
2.2.5Adhesive plate in telescopic handler
3.1 Location of the engine number
Depending on the type of machine or engine installed, the engine identification number is punched into the engine block or embossed on a riveted metal plate.
Due to accessory equipment, it is hardly accessible when installed, however.
There are various stickers on the engine, however, on which the engine identification number is indicated.
Besides, it is indicated on the type plate.

3.4 Breakdown of theengine number
The engine number breaks down into:
Example: | AB 50262 U 500405 P | |
AB | = | Engine type |
50316 | = | List of engine parts |
U | = | Country of manufacture |
500405 | = | Engine serial number |
P | = | Year of manufacture |
JCB machines are equipped with only one locking system.
Every machine can therefore be opened/driven with a universal key.
