Return to Forever was an American jazz fusion band that was founded by pianist Chick Corea in 1971. The band has had many members, with the only consistent bandmate of Corea's being bassist Stanley Clarke. Spain is a Jazz Latin piece written by Chick Corea inspired by the second movement Rodrigo’s Concerto Concerto De Aranjuez. It features a syncopated melody that is played in unison and also includes a flamenco-inspired circle of fifths: the chord progress Gmaj7 – F#7 (b9) – Em – A7 (b9) – Dmaj7- Gmaj7 – C#7 – F#7 – Bm – B. Welcome to my 475th solo guitar video on YouTube, Spain, by Chick Corea. I am really conflicted about this “arrangement“. There used to be a time when I put a lot of effort into creating sophisticated arrangements, each with its own unique voicings, fingerings and passages, sometimes reflecting their original, other times changing it completely but whatever the case, there was real time.
