It is important that our patients receive the finest and most advanced care possible. At Foothills Oral Surgery, our doctors rely on sharp imaging so that our surgeries are precise and our results predictable. The traditional 2-d image gives the dentist a panoramic view of the teeth and jaws but can miss a diagnosis or cause magnification and distortion of the images. The 3D cone beam imaging visualizes the entire anatomy of the head, from a single arch to the full skull. The scan is fast and minimizes patient exposure with up to 90% less radiation than a traditional X-ray. It provides significantly more information about the patient’s anatomy, greatly enhancing our diagnostic ability which provides a more comprehensive and precise treatment plan. It’s the next generation in imaging technology.

Simplant Treatment Planning Software and 3D Viewer

There can be some unknowns when you visit an oral surgeon. At Foothills Oral Surgery we reduce surprises by using state-of-the-art technology to enhance our practice. Excellent results are achieved only with proper planning. When it comes to software we rely on the Simplant Treatment Software — a precise and predictable implant treatment system. It transfers the plan in the Simplant software through a surgical guide to the patient’s mouth, so that your surgeon achieves optimal clinical results with minimally invasive incisions. From the scanning and planning process to preparation and implant placement, it provides accuracy for the surgeon and brings aesthetically pleasing results to our patients.

PRF – Platelet Rich Fibrin, Using What is Already in You!

Healing is an individual process yet, there are safe, natural procedures that can be used to accelerate hard- and soft tissue rejuvenation for each patient. At Foothills Oral Surgery, with the use of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) recovery and healing are faster, as is tissue regeneration. A small amount of the patient’s own blood is collected with an IV just prior to treatment, processed in a centrifuge which makes a concentrated “jelly-like” plug or membrane that is then used during treatment. The patient’s own blood platelets are used as a therapeutic tool for tissue repair during the wound healing process. Over the past two decades, the development, as well as the biological and physiological properties of PRF have improved, providing more predictable and successful patient outcomes. It’s cutting edge technology. We value the best in technology and place patient safety first.

Surgically Clean Air

The air we breathe is important and should be the last thing on our patients’ minds when they walk through our doors. At Foothills Oral Surgery, we have taken extra precautionary measures to provide the most up-to-date technology in a clean air purification system by Surgically Clean Air. The six-stage filtration process captures dust particles, pollen, organic chemicals, allergens, mold, odors, and other pollutants so that our office space is more clean, purified, and re-energized. The system is quiet so it doesn’t interrupt the work setting. The unit is visible yet not obtrusive so that it can be monitored throughout the day. Surgically Clean Air is compliant with hospital regulations for air flows and exchange rates. We notice the difference and so will our patients!

  • What are the system requirements for Simplant Planning Service?

Simplant Planning Service is accessible through PC, Apple, iPad and iPhone. The major internet browsers are supported (Internet Explorer 11, Firefox, Chrome and Safari).

  • How long does it take before I receive the planning proposal?

When all case data are available to Dentsply Sirona, the planning proposal will be ready for review in the next 2 working days. Each planning proposal and guide design has to be reviewed and can be modified in Simplant Editor before the surgical guide is manufactured at Dentsply Sirona.

  • How long does it take before I receive the Simplant Guide?

After approval of a Simplant plan, the Simplant Guide is manufactured and shipped in 48 hours. When you made changes to the Simplant plan, Dentsply Sirona will first verify that the Simplant Guide design is still possible for the changed Simplant plan. If the Simplant Guide design is no longer possible, Dentsply Sirona creates a revised planning proposal for which Guide design is possible again. This revised proposal is posted to your Simplant account for a final review and approval. This situation occurs for example when an implant is planned too close to a neighboring tooth. The revised plan should be reviewed and can be modified again by the clinician if needed. The Simplant Guide is then manufactured and shipped 48 hours after approval of the revised Simplant plan. In rare situations, it may occur that Simplant Guide design is not possible again after receiving the second revised plan. A Dentsply Sirona representative will then contact the customer to find a solution together with the clinician.

  • What if there is no sufficient bone to place implants?

When implants are requested at locations with low bone volume, the (CB)CT scan images will be posted to your Simplant account for review. Review the 2D images with Simplant Editor and make measurements to evaluate the bone width and height. After review, you can either:

    1. Cancel the case. No case cost will be invoiced.

Choose this option if there is not enough bone to proceed with the case in a guided surgery manner.

    2. Proceed the case

Choose this option if you want to proceed with the case in a guided surgery manner. Only after your confirmation to proceed, Dentsply Sirona will generate the 3D images of the case with planning proposal and guide design.

  • How to cancel a case?

A case can be cancelled by contacting Simplant Technical support. If the case is cancelled after an implant planning was made, a case cost will be invoiced.

If there is no sufficient bone to place implants the case can be cancelled without extra cost.
