- Feb 06, 2003 got a sigma dm2 i've had for years but needs some work. A guy at a music shop said some of those sigmas could be worth a few hundred bucks. I'd like to have an idea on it before i try to fix it myself.the serial number is 87110807 on the paper tag in soundhole that also says c.f. It has the sigma guitars est.1970 logo on the headstock.any info would be appreciated.
- Fender Serial Dating. First, narrow it down by the country of origin. Serial dating is easiest for instruments made in the USA or Mexico, but is also possible for those made in Japan, Korea, China, and Indonesia. For US instruments, the serial number will start with a letter. That letter indicates the decade. S for 1970s; E for 1980s; N for.
- Serial numbers for Sigma guitars built in Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia are perhaps meaningless, though again some seem to indicate the year of manufacture (e.g. 81XXXXXX.) Since we know these instruments were manufactured from 1984 through 1993/4, and then 1994 through 2007 in these three countries, it is safe to assume that a serial number.
